Transition year information

The college operates a very active and interactive optional Transition Year programme. Students become immersed in activities to develop new skills and talents by engaging in enterprise and become socially conscious and responsible while also nurturing their academic capacity.

Students become involved in work experience which assists their decision-making around further education and career choice. Work experience is very beneficial for all students. It opens up a world of responsibility and opportunity.

The college recommends Transition Year as an ideal opportunity for personal development and maturation prior to the Leaving Certificate. It offers students the opportunities to broaden their horizons as they set on their way to adulthood.

TY Healthy Eating
The TY class of 2016 began a new departure taking a cooking and healthy eating module with Ms O Mahony. Throughout the term they honed their skills where they invited their parents and teachers for a Christmas Dinner in the library. This sumptuous three course meal was prepared and cooked in our new kitchen and served by the students resplendent in their white shirts and festive dickie-bows. A wonderful evening was held by all with parents delighted that their “master chefs” will be helping out with the cooking over the Christmas holidays.
